CHERNOBYL CHILDREN NEED YOUR HELP

CHILDREN born in the aftermath of the worst nuclear accident the world has ever seen are still feeling the effects over 20 years after it happened and future generations will not be able to escape its legacy.
Youngsters in Belarus breathe in infected air and eat infected food every day of their lives, but just one month away from their country could add two years to their lives and people in Bristol could help them to do this.
The Bath link of the national charity Chernobyl Children’s Life Line is looking for people who are willing to open their homes to children from Belarus for either two, or four weeks this summer.

AGM - 4th Feb - A good turn out

A good turn out last night at the Bathwick Hill Residents' Association AGM. Thanks to the committee for organising, the secretary, chairman, and various helpers. Thanks to the speaker - the development manager from Eric Parry Architects for his update on the Holburne Museum works. There are images and updates here: http://www.bath.ac.uk/holburne/

I gave a short update on this website and asked people to get involved with debate on this site (you can start your own topics in the discussion forums).

Haiti Earthquake rugby cake sale raises nearly £1000

Well done to Hannah and numerous helpers (and bakers) on Saturday. Selling homemade cakes to the rugby crowd as they entered the ground was a great idea and all the cakes were sold by kick-off with donations adding to the total of just under £1000.

Interested in Art

Here's a quick plug for my son....

If anyone is interested in looking at what up and coming artists are doing they can look at www.jamestrimmer.com, if his art is not to your taste.... he has links to many others.

James does do commissions and has painted some portraits for people in Bath. He is currently exhibiting at Somerset House in London.

Benefit gig for canal boat arson victims

"Sunk" is a benefit night for Nel and Cris from the Bath folk band "Malarchy" whose boat was burnt in a suspected arson attack. The canal boat was set alight in the night near Bath with their 18 month baby on board who woke them up crying. Luckily they all got off the boat before it went up, but they lost their belongings.

Breakfast or lunch delivered!

I've just created a website for a very nice chap called Ed who has just started a breakfast and lunch delivery service in Bath. He's not charging delivery at the moment while he's getting established and there's no minimum order so give him a try, he's getting good feedback and repeat business.

using the forums/posting messages

it's come to my attention that some people have had trouble posting messages to the forums. I think this is because some accounts haven't been fully activated (by clicking on the email link to authenticate your account). if you are getting error messages to say you are unable to post message etc. please let me know and i'll activate your account.

Grand Designs

Did anyone see this? What was the verdict? I thought Kevin McCloud was unusually non-committal about the actual architecture. Maybe because it wasn't 100% finished he didn't want to talk too much at the end about the 'design context'?
I also knew that the groundworks were difficult but i hadn't realised how tough it had been, with neighbours wall falling down etc.
See the channel 4 site about it: http://www.channel4.com/4homes/ontv/grand-designs/houses/B/Grand-Designs...

If you missed the programme it's on again on Saturday (23rd Feb) 8pm.

Community meetings

I am unaware of any date for the next Public Meeting. Today is 19th Jan 2008
