Holburne Museum extension - why not?
"It would be very easy to approve the current proposals for the development of the Holburne Museum: the new building will provide valuable accommodation, the planning of the scheme has been worked out very skilfully, the developer is the highly regarded Holburne Museum, and the Museum has employed well-known architects: surely, you will say, what’s not to like?
It is easy to look at a smart presentation of a bright modern building and say "that looks nice", as so many do, but I will demonstrate that you must look further than this, and consider many other things…
If the Holburne in these prestigious surroundings can get away with this damaging proposal then every other developer will cite this as a precedent, and the difficulties of preventing other grievous hurts will be made even more difficult than it is now."
