Holburne Director presents extension scheme - March 4

A free talk will take place on Wednesday March 4 in the Lecture Theatre 8 West 1.1 on the Claverton campus at 5.15pm.

PaCT meeting: 16 December

The next 'Police and Communities Together' meeting is 16 Dec at 7:30 in Bathwick St Mary's Primary School.

A panel of police, council staff and councillor Nicholas Coombes will answer difficult questions from the audience or at least take notes! Rev Prothero will be chairing again to facilitate residents raising concerns, before voting on the principal priorities of Bathwick. The last meeting was in January and agreed to pursue action on speeding, anti-social behaviour in Sydney Gardens and a pedestrian crossing on Bathwick Hill.

Zebra crossing demonstration - Mon 16th 4.30pm

Sorry this is late notice (i've been away). Nicholas Coombes and Armand Edwards have organised a demonstration outside Tesco on Monday afternoon (16th June) at 4.30pm to protest at the lack of a zebra crossing. All are invited to take part. Resident Parking Permit charge increases: LibDem/'public hearing' - April 7th

If you have objections to the current Council intentions to increase residents parking permit charges by about 65% and extend the city centre paying times to 8.00pm you may be interested in a 'hearing' on this.

This decision is being 'called-in' by the city LibDem group, and this hearing will take place on Monday April 7th, at 10.00 at the Guildhall. Members of the public can attend. If you wish to speak you can but should first arrange to do so by emailing scrutiny@bathnes.gov.uk

Easter Egg Hunt/Easter Tea and Cakes - Saturday

The Bathwick Hill Residents Association Easter Egg Hunt will take place this Saturday, in Raby Gardens, from 10am. All Residents Association members are welcome to attend, and to bring and children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, or guest children staying with them. Members are also welcome for tea and cake regardless of whether they have children to bring.
Please contact the BHRA Chair, on chair@bathwickhill.info with the names and ages of children wishing to hunt for eggs, and a phone number in case of cancellation.

Sham Castle Scrub Clearance - Thurs 13th March

10am-4pm
A community project to clear the view at the Sham Castle has been finalised for Thursday 13th March. Already many Bathwick locals have volunteered their time but everyone is welcome. The day will run from 10am until 4pm with volunteers invited to stay for the whole day, but able to drop in and leave when they chose. Although Cllr Coombes has organised this project, many thanks are due to BathNES landscapes department, the Cotswold Conservation Board SDF, BTC, the National Trust, the One World Society and the University of Bath Students’ Union.

BH Residents' Association AGM - 13th March

AGM: 13th March, 7pm
Our AGM will be held at St Marys Church Hall, at the bottom of Bathwick Hill, on Thursday 13th March, at 7pm. Everyone on the Hill is most welcome. This year we are inviting two speakers: Ben Cross, National Trust Warden for Bathwick and the surrounding area will be talking about the National Trust plans for the Bathwick Hill meadows. We hope this will be followed by a question and answer session with Brendan Tucker, manager of the new Tesco store. Our councillors have also been invited, and wine and nibbles will be served. Raffle tickets will be sold for our Easter Egg Hunt raffle; proceeds to Julian House.

Police and Communities Together meeting (PaCT) - 30th Feb

The second Police and Communities Together meeting will take place in Bathwick St Mary's Church Hall on Wednesday 30th February from 7pm. Like the first public meeting, residents are invited to voice their concerns (or celebrations) about local matters related to the Police or BathNES Council. Cllr Nicholas Coombes and representative from the Police and council will attempt to find solutions or explanations.

In October the PaCT meeting agreed that their top priorities were the incomplete Sydney Road traffic scheme, anti-social behaviour in Sydney Gardens and on street parking around Warminster Road. This is your chance to vote for another set to be tackled.

Bath Half Marathon - Parking

There will be parking and access restrictions on Bathwick Hill from 06:00 to 17:00 hrs on Sunday March 16th on Argyle St. Edward St., and Great Pulteney St. so the roundabout at the bottom of Bathwick hill will be closed for Access.

This means there will be no bus service on Bathwick Hill during the day. It will be diverted along Walcot St, Bathwick St and North Rd. until about 17:00. If anyone is planning to get a bus during the day on the 16th I suggest you call First Buses.

Parking will be suspended on Cleveland walk from 06:00 to 15:30.

Latest Holburne plans - committee vote 28 Nov

As you may know, the Holburne has revised it's extension plans. The extension is still of glass and ceramic, but the height and colour has been changed, a new top floor window added, and the staircase moved to provide a clear route through the whole building from front to back. The new plans will go to the council committee vote on November 28th.

'Guide Dogs for the Blind' Charity Shop: Oct 20th-27th

Derek and Norma Stent of Sham Castle Lane are again running a charity shop for a week to raise money for Guide Dog training. The shop is at the Old Postal Museum, Broad Street, 10am to 4pm. Please visit to help raise £3,000 this week!

Bathwick councillors open surgery - 6 October

Claverton Down Community Hall 10-11am. Ward councillors Armand Edwards and Nicholas Coombes will hold an open surgery Saturday October 6. All Bathwick residents welcome - no appointment needed.

Road Closures (again) - top of Bathwick Hill 28-31 Aug

28th - 31st August 2007
Buses will not be running on Bathwick Hill. From town the last bus-stop will be at the top end of Great Pulteney St. and they will run up North Road (no stops).

To register to Dial-a-Ride phone 01225 335019 (9.45am-12 noon). Dial-a-Ride runs Mondays Wednesday and alternate Fridays. (So Dial-a-Ride may not be of any use on this occasion!).
